Three Fun New Clients!

Whew! I've had a wonderful whirlwind writing and PR phone consulting month since last month's announcement of my revamped website and blog!

Thank you for your faith in my skills and services, and I am loving every minute of working virtually with all of you who are located both in San Diego and all across the country.

One of the things I enjoy about writing this newsletter is connecting interesting people with each other, so I want to introduce you to my all-star client line-up this month:

1. San Diego Style Weddings. I met publisher Dena Malasek when I walked into her wedding invitation boutique, Truso, in Carlsbad, CA (on the way to get cat food with hubby Steve!) We started chatting, and the next thing I knew, she told me she publishes the beautiful glossy bridal magazine/guidebook, San Diego Style Weddings. And when I told her I was a professional writer, she hired me on the spot!

Believe me, Dena's publication is the go-to guide if you want to get married anywhere in San Diego county! It's filled with gorgeous photos, articles, and ideas from "Real Weddings." I interviewed seven brides and wrote about their lovely elegant ceremonies and receptions that took place in all areas of beautiful sunny San Diego. The articles will appear in the Oct./Nov. edition. And just today Dena assigned me three more brides to interview!

My biggest exciting assignment for San Diego Style Weddings, was so much FUN! I interviewed the most famous celebrity event & wedding planner on the West Coast, Santa Barbara-based Scott Corridan. I enjoyed every minute of talking to this talented and gracious man and hearing about the beautiful weddings and events he and his staff create, both all across America and overseas. He recently did a $1.7 million dollar three-day wedding extravaganza! But no matter what size wedding he touches with his magic, what was most apparent is that all his clients get treated the same way: with respect. Ya gotta love a guy like that! Oh, and did I mention he also writes books and gives generously to charity? :) Watch for the article in the Oct./Nov. edition.

2. Organize With Love. Yes, it's true that her name is really Paris Love and she hails from Atlanta, GA. Paris is a professional organizer and writer who will soon be relocating her business to the FL panhandle. She's awesome! Read more about Paris below as she was chosen this month for my Featured Client section.

3. The Old Painted Cottage. As most of you know, I'm in love with cottages of any kind and with cottage style decorating. So it's with great fondness that I introduce you to my latest client, Jennifer Grey, founder of The Old Painted Cottage website. Jennifer lives in the Los Angeles area and sells exquisitely beautiful cottage decor on her website, which is gorgeous itself! She listens and takes instructions well, and is learning from me how to get free PR for her business...by doing it herself! A recent referral I gave her netted her a phone call from a magazine editor requesting to do a story about her for the September issue of a national glossy decorating magazine. Yay, Jennifer!

I feel so blessed to be hired to write and consult for such talented, creative, successful, and fascinating entrepreneurs who are so appreciative of my services! To be able to "step into your lives" and assist you from the comfort of my cozy home gives me great joy and I thank you for your continued referrals and trust in me. I do my absolute best to serve you well. What I love most about my current clients is they are so considerate and gracious, which are qualities I admire!

Blessings! --Kathryn--

Featured Client--Organize With Love

Atlanta-based professional organizer Paris Love, founder of Organize With Love is on an organizing mission: "Today Georgia, tomorrow the world!" Her four-year old organizing business is quite impressive as in that amount of time she has organized people's homes and offices, written articles and an e-book, and conducted workshops. Not to mention she just negotiated with IKEA to speak at her local store, and was willing to share the glory with other organizers by inviting them to help.

Paris also brings a fascinating educational background to her organizing work. She holds a Masters degree in Human Resources and Business Administration, and undergraduate degrees in Psychology and Fashion Design. What a combo for a professional organizer!

Just since we started working together, she has finished the first draft of her new organizing workbook, Good Things Happen to Organized People!, which I have finished reviewing and editing for her. (I love her title and it's true!)

Paris will be relocating to the FL panhandle (Baldwin County) soon with her family and you guessed it...she's on top of the move! She already has plans to hold an Open House, and we are working on ways she can get PR coverage in her new location. Once settled, Paris will be traveling back to service her clients in Atlanta, working with new ones in FL, and is willing to travel anywhere she is needed. Her other motto? "Have clutter? Will travel!"

Paris has been an absolute delight to work with and and I have this feeling she's headed for some very big things!

See what Paris says about our consulting and editing work together here.

P.S. She sells some really fun organizing T- shirts on her website!

Learn How to Get Free PR for Your Business

I have been asked often over the years how I managed to get my own organizing and decorating businesses featured in the media repeatedly, so I have recently written a new e-tips booklet: 57 Tips, Resources, & Links to Get Free Repeat Media Coverage for Your Business...Just Like I Have!

It's a simple guide full of "do it yourself" publicity tips that I learned and implemented that worked for me. And during that educational process I noticed some (ethical) patterns of how to go about approaching the media and offering to become a resource for them so that they start contacting you. It's fun, and helpful for both parties! I also do phone consultations to assist you.

Ask the Writer

Someone asked me once what my favorite thing about being a writer is. Interviewing! I absolutely love stepping into someone else's world and hearing all about what they do, how they do it, and what makes them tick! I simply never tire of listening to people's stories about their lives, their businesses, their work, and then getting the nuances down on paper. (well, computer!)

My grandfather used to tell me story after story when I was a young child, and my grandmother read endlessly to me. I was hooked on stories and still am!

What's your story? If you want help getting it down on paper, contact me at kathrynbechen@yahoo.com.

No Woman is an Island!

As I mentioned last month, even though I'm a "solo" entrepreneur, I have always surrounded myself with good vendors and other experts. And here's one I'd like you to meet--my talented webmaster, Julia Wyson of Julia Wyson Design.

Julia created my new writing website, and she helped me customize my blog and e-newsletter so that everything coordinates nicely. Everything has gone smoothly and been done on time. She gives me stellar customer service and has been able to implement any suggestion or change I requested. What's not to like?! I have high standards (a.k.a. discriminating and well, yes sometimes picky, but that's a good quality for a writer to have when proofreading and editing client work!) Julia's services meet my standards of excellence.

Need help writing the copy for your new website or tweaking existing text? I would be happy to help you with your project. Contact me at kathrynbechen@yahoo.com.

NO SPAM!

I do not participate in SPAM, so if you do not want to receive any more of these e-announcements or e-newsletters, please click on the SafeUnsubscribelink at the bottom of this page to be removed from my e-mailing list.

Happy 4th of July!

Hope you have a great 4th of July! Hubby Steve and I have spent the last few at the quaint village parade on the beautiful lawn near the Inn at Rancho Santa Fe. It's also one of our favorite places to go to lunch and take a stroll around their gardens. Over the 4th they have an old fashioned parade, BBQ, and Big Band music. We love it! Enjoy your day!
